Discover what Authentication Templates are and how to create OTP Button Templates in WhatsApp

Authentication Templates allow you to authenticate users using one-time access codes (OTP).

These are alphanumeric codes made up of 4 to 8 digits and are used during login, for verification, recovery, and account access, among other purposes.

▶ Authentication templates offer 2 configuration options:
  • Autofill Button: When tapped, it automatically loads and passes the OTP code to the app.
  • Copy Code Button: Users manually copy and paste the code into their application.
✅ Key Info:
  • Both configurations can include optional add-ons such as security recommendations and expiration warnings for the codes.
  • Button text is limited to 25 characters.
  • This type of template does NOT allow body text, URLs, multimedia content, or emojis in either the message or the button text.
☝ Since OTP button templates contain only predefined text and buttons, the risk of being paused is significantly reduced.
